The Spacer Kit rim from SIP Performance has been specially developed for wide tyres on classic Vespas.

The Spacer Kit rim from SIP Performance for wide tyres makes it possible to slightly offset the wheels of classic Vespas in the track without giving up the centring of the rims. This makes it possible, for example, to make room for low-profile tyres or spaced clutch covers. The centring of the rims is one of the basic requirements for all classic Vespas, so that the wheels run smoothly and quietly on the one hand, and that the rims do not become loose due to vibration on the other.

Spacer Kit Rim from SIP Performance

In the nineties, in youthful recklessness, we simply put 1.5 mm washers under the rims, e.g. to mount a 100/80 tyre on a Vespa PX and create space to the clutch cover. With today's powerful engines and enormous top speeds, this kind of spacing is no longer an option. After all, the centring of the rim is lost here. The rim can run out of round and the vibrations can not only tire the driver but even cause the rims to become loose.

The SIP spacer plates offer a robust edge in their centre, which lies against the centring shoulder of the brake drums. The outer edges of the spacer plates have a shoulder that rests against the rim. This transfers the centring from the drum to the rim and at the same time creates a distance in the thickness of the plates. In most cases enough to make room for a minimally wider tyre, or to keep distance from a spaced clutch cover or steering tube, for example.

Note: The spacer plates are primarily intended for use with SIP aluminium tubeless rims. All five spacers can be used here. For use with two-piece sheet metal rims, one plate near the valve must be modified or cut off on one side.
